Anonymous Bookaholics Tag

Hey y’all and welcome to what I am pretty sure is my first actual tag of 2020. I grabbed this from Sahi over at ksahitya even though I technically wasn’t tagged. Anyway I’m super excited so let’s get into it!

What do you like about buying new books?

My favorite thing about buying new books is that there is a whole world wrapped up in it’s pages and it can often help me step away from my own life.

How often do you buy new books?

I don’t really plan it. Honestly, it just kind of depends on how I feel, when I’m near a bookstore and if I have money. We often go to malls with books-a-millions in them so I always make sure to stop check out the bargain area since that is where I get most of my books.

Bookstore or online book shopping: which do you prefer?

Because I prefer to buy bargain priced books (I’m broke sue me), I like to shop in store at BAM because they often have a wider selection of bargain books in store compared to online.

Do you have a favorite bookshop?

I will shop at just about any bookstore, local or big brand, but I most often go to BAM because that is what’s around me and I also have a membership with them so it makes it worth it.

Do you pre-order books?

I have only ever preorded one book which was Conceal, Don’t Feel from the Twisted Tales and I may be ordering the next book in the series here soon.

Do you have a monthly buying limit?

I don’t have a price one but I try not to buy more than 2-3 books a month because I know that I constantly am taking from the library and getting in ARCs plus my backlist of books I want to read.

How big is your wish list?

I don’t actually keep a wishlist. Sure I have a few books in mind that I would love to own but sometimes I struggle with spending money on a book that I will read within a few days at most and then likely not touch for another year or so.

Which three books from your wish list do you wish to own right now?

So even though I just said I don’t keep a wishlist, here are three books I would love to call my own.

I’m not too sure which of my bookish friends are still doing tags so if you see this, comment if I can tag you in posts and consider yourself tagged if you’d like to do this one!

Christmas Book Blogger Tag

Happy Christmas Eve y’all! Today I am working but I realized this week that all December, I have only done one holiday related post. Then I saw this tag on Whimsypages, made by Between my Lines and I knew I had to do it. So let’s hop to it!

What Is Your Favourite Christmas Scene In A Book?

I haven’t read Harry Potter in so long (and probably don’t plan to, thanks JKR) so I can’t remember if this is in the books but the scene where Harry and Hermione see his parents grave on Christmas has always touched my heart.

Do You Have Any Christmas Book Traditions?

I don’t right now but I would love to start receiving books on Christmas Eve and then spending the night reading them. I don’t think that possible for us right now just because I didn’t bring it up in time and we both work from now until Christmas.

Do You Prefer To Get Presents Of Book Vouchers Or Books?

I try pretty hard to make sure I am asking for specific books because I don’t like most people buying me books. If I don’t have a certain book I want or don’t want anyone buying it, I ask for vouchers.

Do You Give Books As Presents?

Not normally. I am just getting to the point where I buy gifts for more than one or two friends but most of them don’t read like I do so it’s never really been a thing I do.

What Bookish Item Is On Your Christmas Wishlist?

I have an exact thing I want. I want this book sleeve from Cozylibrary in a medium. I would legit cry if I got this and have been trying to drop hints about it for about a week and a half.

What 3 Books Would You Love Santa To Have In His Sack For You?

40599820. sy475

Fake Christmas Tree Or Real Christmas Tree?

I used to be team real tree but I don’t want to have to pay for the same thing every year if I can just pay for it once and then use it for years.

What’s Your Favourite Thing About Christmas?

My favorite thing about Christmas is the decorations. I love driving around to see Christmas lights and we often go to our zoo to see the ones there.

What Christmas Book Would You Recommend?

I don’t typically read Christmas themed books but this year I read A Wedding in December and I really enjoyed it!

What Dish On Your Christmas Menu Are You Most Looking Forward To?

This year we aren’t having our normal dinner, in fact I don’t even know what we are having yet so I can’t really answer this!

When Do You Open Your Christmas Presents?

As a kid, I opened gifts basically as soon as I woke up, then had breakfast with my grandparents and opened their gifts and then we went to my uncle’s so we kinda opened gifts all day. But as a adult, my wife and I are terrible at keeping gifts a secret (also terrible at having time to shop alone) so we often either trade gifts super early OR we just kinda buy our own?

What’s Your Favourite Christmas Song?

This is a really great question. I am going to say All I Want For Christmas is You because we play it at work all the time and it always makes us laugh and feel better when a shift is rough.

Are You Dreaming Of A White Christmas?

Absolutely not!! I hate winter in general but it is so much worse when it snows. I can’t run from my house to car and car to work without a jacket if it is snowing!! Also it causes accidents and delays when you are trying to go places.

And there we have it. I am not going to tag anyone simply because this is going up on Christmas Eve and I don’t think anyone would have time left to do it. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas or any Holiday you celebrate.

Autumn Book Tag

I’m back with another tag! It may feel like winter where I live but it’s still fall so I figured I would get this up quick! Thanks Leelynn for the tag!

Today’s prompt is hosted by Michelle @ Michelle Likes Things! (Who also made the graphics I am using)

With every tag come rules, so if you want to post this, please follow these:

  • Please link back to this post (not my homepage, but the address of this blogpost)
  • Answer the following questions.
  • Tag a bunch of people to do this tag!

Even though it doesn’t have a happy ending, one of the books I always go back to is Handle With Care.

I feel like I’ve talked about this so much so I am going to try to find one I haven’t used yet.

Oof. I hate “scary” books but I read a lot of mystery / crime novels? One I really liked that I read a while ago is

28187230. sy475

I feel so deeply for the Queen of Hearts in this book.

18584855. sy475

Even though I cry at literally everything, I don’t tend to cry over books? So I don’t have one for this.

LGBT princess. That’s all I’ve got to say.

uhhhhhhhh Honestly most of my really anticipated books come out this winter but The How & The Why recently came out and it was amazing so check that one out.

And there we go. As seems to be the running theme for tags this november, I am tagging whoever would like to do this one! Enjoy y’all!!

The Netgalley Book Tag || All About ARCS

Thank you to Kitty for tagging me. I’m so sorry I lost this and it took forever for me to get around to this!!

Disclaimer: This post is in no way affiliated with or sponsored by NetGalley.

The rules:

  • Link back to the tag’s creator (Kourtni Reads)
  • Thank and link back to the person who tagged you
  • Answer the questions the best you can. If you don’t use NetGalley, you can substitute other sites or places where you get books!
  • Tag a few people to do this too

Auto-Approved: Who’s one author whose books you automatically want to read, regardless of what they’re about?

Request: What makes you want to request a book that you see on NetGalley?

Typically I don’t look at a book unless the cover draws me in but I also give the summary a quick read and glance at the rating on Goodreads. I have started looking at other reviews but not very often.

Feedback Ratio: Do you review every book you read? If not, how do you decide what books to review?

On Goodreads? Typically yes. My rating is currently 60% but that’s because I do wait until a little closer to the publish date to read some of the books. I am also behind on putting in one or two reviews for books I’ve read. I have DNF’d one or two books from Netgalley though.

Other than on Goodreads, no I do not review every book. I will rate them all but reviews take a lot of time and thought energy that I just don’t always have. It really depends on how I feel mentally.

Badges: If you could create your own badge to display on your blog, what would it be for?

I really liked Kitty’s answer of genre badges! I also think badges for rating 10/20/50 books 4 stars or more would be cool if that makes sense?

Wish for It: What’s one book that you are absolutely dying to read?

On Netgalley specifically, Jane Anonymous which comes out January 7th. I plan to read this on my flight to Vegas in January but it is taking a lot of self control not to read it now.

2016 NetGalley Challenge: What was the last book that you received as an ARC that you reviewed? If you’ve never received an ARC, what’s the last book you reviewed?

The last ARC I reviewed was Dare to Be You by Marianne Schnall. I have a review up on my blog if you want that check that out.

So I am actually taking a break from tagging people for this week. I just feel like I tag the same 5 people! I need more people to tag!

This or That || Book Tag

Massive thank you to Leelynn (yes again) for tagging me and also making these absolutely gorgeous graphics that I am using.

So while I normally read in my bed, I do prefer to read in our downstairs living room on the loveseat since when I bend my knees, I fit basically perfectly and it seems to keep the weight off of my lower back (the reason I don’t like reading in bed).

Cue me trying to remember the last book I read with a main male character especially from his POV. I got nothing. Girls all the way.

I really just eat what I want, when I want it, but I normally don’t snack and eat or snack and blog. I’ll take a break and come back.

These things happen in threes. I prefer trilogies because I am not always a fan of series so the shorter the better.

Reading all the time! While if I really sat down, I probably do most of my reading between the hours of 9pm and 3am (hello hours not before or during work), I really don’t have a preference. I can tell you that I do most of my blogging in the morning/afternoon between 11-3pm so I’m not reading then. Also on my days off that when we are cooking dinner, you can find me curled up on the couch, sighing any time I have to put my book down.

Why do I have to pick??? I really, honestly, truly think it depends on the book! Sometimes I love first person, but if we do that I like to jump from person to person.

Libraries. Less money out of my pocket, helping a community staple, it’s a pretty easy choice for me personally.

Really guys, let me have BOTHHHHHHHH. I love laughing while I read because you don’t get as crazy looks but I love emotionally charged books over light books so….

While I feel that black books are too often a thing and without a cover they all look the same, I would rather have black than white because white books can get so dirty and dinged so quickly.

Get me attached to a character and I’ll read 5 chapters of them just getting ready for school. But I’ve always been more of a people person.

Thanks again to Leelynn for always, always including me and making me feel loved.

4. Tag whoever you want
5. Have fun. It’s a rule, it must be done.

I only read this once but I feel like this is a book that I could read again, any year for Halloween.

If I’m reading slowly… there is probably an issue.

Between this and The Turn of The Key were both SO spooky.

Oof. I wanted to love this book so bad because Leelynn bought it for me but it took me forever to get through and sent me through a book slump.

I had no idea how much I was going to love this book but it really took me by surprise.

Thanks again Leelynn for tagging me!! This was so much fun.
