Autumn Book Tag

I’m back with another tag! It may feel like winter where I live but it’s still fall so I figured I would get this up quick! Thanks Leelynn for the tag!

Today’s prompt is hosted by Michelle @ Michelle Likes Things! (Who also made the graphics I am using)

With every tag come rules, so if you want to post this, please follow these:

  • Please link back to this post (not my homepage, but the address of this blogpost)
  • Answer the following questions.
  • Tag a bunch of people to do this tag!

Even though it doesn’t have a happy ending, one of the books I always go back to is Handle With Care.

I feel like I’ve talked about this so much so I am going to try to find one I haven’t used yet.

136251. sy475

Oof. I hate “scary” books but I read a lot of mystery / crime novels? One I really liked that I read a while ago is

28187230. sy475

I feel so deeply for the Queen of Hearts in this book.

18584855. sy475

Even though I cry at literally everything, I don’t tend to cry over books? So I don’t have one for this.

LGBT princess. That’s all I’ve got to say.

uhhhhhhhh Honestly most of my really anticipated books come out this winter but The How & The Why recently came out and it was amazing so check that one out.

And there we go. As seems to be the running theme for tags this november, I am tagging whoever would like to do this one! Enjoy y’all!!

The Netgalley Book Tag || All About ARCS

Thank you to Kitty for tagging me. I’m so sorry I lost this and it took forever for me to get around to this!!

Disclaimer: This post is in no way affiliated with or sponsored by NetGalley.

The rules:

  • Link back to the tag’s creator (Kourtni Reads)
  • Thank and link back to the person who tagged you
  • Answer the questions the best you can. If you don’t use NetGalley, you can substitute other sites or places where you get books!
  • Tag a few people to do this too

Auto-Approved: Who’s one author whose books you automatically want to read, regardless of what they’re about?

Request: What makes you want to request a book that you see on NetGalley?

Typically I don’t look at a book unless the cover draws me in but I also give the summary a quick read and glance at the rating on Goodreads. I have started looking at other reviews but not very often.

Feedback Ratio: Do you review every book you read? If not, how do you decide what books to review?

On Goodreads? Typically yes. My rating is currently 60% but that’s because I do wait until a little closer to the publish date to read some of the books. I am also behind on putting in one or two reviews for books I’ve read. I have DNF’d one or two books from Netgalley though.

Other than on Goodreads, no I do not review every book. I will rate them all but reviews take a lot of time and thought energy that I just don’t always have. It really depends on how I feel mentally.

Badges: If you could create your own badge to display on your blog, what would it be for?

I really liked Kitty’s answer of genre badges! I also think badges for rating 10/20/50 books 4 stars or more would be cool if that makes sense?

Wish for It: What’s one book that you are absolutely dying to read?

On Netgalley specifically, Jane Anonymous which comes out January 7th. I plan to read this on my flight to Vegas in January but it is taking a lot of self control not to read it now.

2016 NetGalley Challenge: What was the last book that you received as an ARC that you reviewed? If you’ve never received an ARC, what’s the last book you reviewed?

The last ARC I reviewed was Dare to Be You by Marianne Schnall. I have a review up on my blog if you want that check that out.

So I am actually taking a break from tagging people for this week. I just feel like I tag the same 5 people! I need more people to tag!

This or That || Book Tag

Massive thank you to Leelynn (yes again) for tagging me and also making these absolutely gorgeous graphics that I am using.

So while I normally read in my bed, I do prefer to read in our downstairs living room on the loveseat since when I bend my knees, I fit basically perfectly and it seems to keep the weight off of my lower back (the reason I don’t like reading in bed).

Cue me trying to remember the last book I read with a main male character especially from his POV. I got nothing. Girls all the way.

I really just eat what I want, when I want it, but I normally don’t snack and eat or snack and blog. I’ll take a break and come back.

These things happen in threes. I prefer trilogies because I am not always a fan of series so the shorter the better.

Reading all the time! While if I really sat down, I probably do most of my reading between the hours of 9pm and 3am (hello hours not before or during work), I really don’t have a preference. I can tell you that I do most of my blogging in the morning/afternoon between 11-3pm so I’m not reading then. Also on my days off that when we are cooking dinner, you can find me curled up on the couch, sighing any time I have to put my book down.

Why do I have to pick??? I really, honestly, truly think it depends on the book! Sometimes I love first person, but if we do that I like to jump from person to person.

Libraries. Less money out of my pocket, helping a community staple, it’s a pretty easy choice for me personally.

Really guys, let me have BOTHHHHHHHH. I love laughing while I read because you don’t get as crazy looks but I love emotionally charged books over light books so….

While I feel that black books are too often a thing and without a cover they all look the same, I would rather have black than white because white books can get so dirty and dinged so quickly.

Get me attached to a character and I’ll read 5 chapters of them just getting ready for school. But I’ve always been more of a people person.

Thanks again to Leelynn for always, always including me and making me feel loved.

#BEAutumn2019 Series: Candy Tag

Big thank you to Leelynn (of course right?) for tagging me!

Today’s prompt is hosted by Haley @ The Caffeinated Reader

Prompt Rules:
1. Tag me the creator, por favor.
2. Tag the person who tagged you
3. Feel free to switch up the names of candies
4. Tag whoever you want
5. Have fun. It’s a rule, it must be done.

I only read this once but I feel like this is a book that I could read again, any year for Halloween.

If I’m reading slowly… there is probably an issue.

Between this and The Turn of The Key were both SO spooky.

Oof. I wanted to love this book so bad because Leelynn bought it for me but it took me forever to get through and sent me through a book slump.

41150487. sy475

I had no idea how much I was going to love this book but it really took me by surprise.

Thanks again Leelynn for tagging me!! This was so much fun.

Fall Book Tag

fall tag 1

I’m sure if I looked, I could find books similar to this one but With The Fire on High just felt so…. special and different when I read it.

fall tag 2
43204703. sy475

I was literally screaming in a group chat with my friends when I finished this book.

fall tag 5

I read this recently as well but the whole time I was swooning. I want to buy a copy of my own to read around Christmas!!

fall tag 6

I love the Rizzoli and Isles books. Not as much as the show but they are still a good series.

fall tag 3

fall tag 4
40599820. sy475

I really, really want to read this book and I might just bump it to the top of my list here shortly.

I’m not sure who has done this tag and who hasn’t so if I tag you and you have, I’m sorry!! Also y’all please leave a comment below if I can tag you in posts like this!

How does it work?

  • Thank the blogger(s) who nominated you in a blog post and link back to their blog.
  • Answer the 11 questions sent by the person who nominated you.
  • Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.
  • List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or on your blog.

Thank you so much Amelia for tagging me. I am so lucky to be a part of this community.

What was the book that made you fall in love with reading?

Honestly? I have no idea. I’ve been reading as long as I can remember but one book I loved when I was young was, Are You There God? It’s me, Margaret.

If you had to choose a non-natural color for your hair, what would it be?

Probably a deep navy or a reddish color. I really like funky colored hair on others but it’s not really for me.

What is your favorite holiday?

In theory, my favorite holiday is Christmas because I love the lights and the snow and the gifts and the food but the time around Christmas is actually very hard for me so I find it hard to stay happy.

christmas winter GIF

Do you have any special books in your collection (ex: signed books, special editions, etc)?

Not right now! But I want to take a few Disney books to Disney and get them signed by the characters.

If you could get away with one crime, what would it be?

I don’t think there is any crime I would feel comfortable doing.

What is a scent that always brings back a good memory?

I love the smell of sunscreen. While there isn’t just one memory, it brings back memories of summers with my best friends.

What is your favorite format to read books in (e-book, audio, hardcover, paperback)?

I used to say paperback but now other than audiobooks, I read whatever I can. But I do prefer physical copies whether hardback or paperback.

What makes you laugh until you cry?

The last thing to do this was my friend from work.

If you were a cartoon character, what would your signature outfit be?

Jeans and Disney T shirt or my work uniform which is jeans and a work T shirt. If I could pick, it might be a dress because I love dresses but I’m normally in denim and a T shirt.

Who is a person you admire and why?

My aunt. She is always willing to hear me out and try to help. She is also honest with me when I need advice.

What’s the weirdest fun fact that you know?

With a total of only 18 whole lines, Princess Aurora is the Disney Princess with the least amount of dialogue.

I tag…..

Nen and Jen

My questions for y’all if you want to participate are:

  1. What is one book you would make everyone read if you could, that is NOT a classic?
  2. What is your favorite season and why?

  4. Do you lend people your books?
  5. Do you have a favorite Disney movie and if so, what is it?
  6. What is a scent that always brings back a good memory?
  7. If you had to run a blog about something that wasn’t books, what would it be?
  8. What is one fact about you that people don’t normally know?
  9. If you could meet one author, who would you meet?
  10. Who is a person you admire and why?
  11. Where is one last in the world you hope to visit?

The Honest Booktuber (with a twist)

Leelynn tagged me in this about a month ago and I totally did not forget about it until I went to do another post she tagged me in… Anyway! This is what she had to say about her post “this one is going to be a little different because this started from a Booktube tag, but I am going to change up the questions a bit to fit bloggers. I found this from Myonna Reads, and the original tag (with all the questions listed) is from Harriet Rosie.”

Thank you Leelynn for always thinking of me and tagging me. I’m half convinced my blog would fall apart without you! Now let’s get into it!

Have you ever lied about reading a book?

the office yes GIF

Dumplin’ has been sitting on my “currently reading” for probably about 2 months. I’m not reading it.

Have you ever avoided a book because of controversy around the content/author?

Jeff Goldblum What GIF by The Late Late Show with James Corden

So since I’m still newish to the book blogging community, I haven’t seen too much “don’t read this book/this author.” But should it come up, I am willing to hear out why we shouldn’t and will probably heed the community’s advice.

Have you ever been sent a book for free and not disclosed it?

Okay so first things first, that would be so rude. I’m pretty sure it’s a rule with ARCs that we have to and even it is a gift from someone I know, I always mention it because I am grateful!

Have you ever bought a book with no intention of reading it?

alice in wonderland GIF

I literally bought a copy of Alice in Wonderland to take to our character breakfast in Disney where I will meet Alice and The Mad Hatter so they can sign it but I haven’t read it and I really don’t want to.

Have you ever got caught up in bookblogger drama?

Oh No Deal With It GIF by DreamWorks Animation

I really haven’t had any negative interactions with book blogging other than stressing myself out.

Have you ever had a hate comment, and did you respond?

I Dont Remember Golden Girls GIF by TV Land

If I have, I don’t remember it. Honestly days just kind of blur together. I do get A LOT of spam though.

Have you ever made a post just because you knew it would get views?

old 30 rock GIF

Nope. I feel like I barely know what I’m doing as it is so I just kinda post what I want to. Do I hope it gets likes and views? Of course. But I haven’t posted anything drama-like.

If you could go back to the beginning of your blog, would you do anything differently?

be prepared the lion king GIF

Honestly, I would have made sure I was set up completely before I started posting and I wish I had started it sooner than I did.

Are there any blogs you wish you could be more like?

bones on fox be you GIF by Bones

So while yes, there are people I aspire to be like (whether they have really cool theme or post more often or whatever it is), this community wouldn’t work if we were all identical. If everyone was always reading the same books or had the same theme or posted the same thing, I would get so bored. I like that we can all relate and connect while still being ourselves.

What’s something you love about your blog?

michelle obama let me live my life out loud GIF by Obama

This blog gives me a space to be me. Out loud and unapologetically so. And if someone doesn’t like it or me, they don’t have to stay.

Again thank you so much to Leelynn for always tagging me and including me. I feel like I say this every time but you are amazing and I am so glad I met you!
